ART: Kitsch Art and Ready-mades

We will discuss the idea of thinking beyond a canvas and ready-mades in art, as well as the concept of Kitsch in the art world. Artists will create a piece on an unusual, non-canvas, surface. Everyone will be given the opportunity to choose from a variety of surfaces to paint on. We will push and explore the idea of taking something pre-made and making it into a unique piece of art.

ART: Caricature Portraits

We will discuss how satire and humor is used in and affects the fine arts, as well as briefly touch on the place of Cartoonists and Illustrators in the fine arts world. People can either choose to do a drawing of each other or they can do a drawing of themselves (mirrors will be provided). They will include one thing that they/their subject loves to use at the basis of what will be exaggerated or used to add humor to the piece. (Examples: Coffee, Boating, Dogs, Fashion).
